Summer Running
While these practices occur in the summer before your child’s 7th or 8th grade begins, they are a low key opportunity for your child to be introduced to running. These practices are three times a week, some in the morning, some in evening and are led by the EPHS CC team captains. epxc.org
CMS Cross Country
Cross Country is one of two competitive running seasons that CMS offers. The season officially begins in mid-August when the EPHS Cross Country season begins. For the first 3 weeks, CMS and EPHS cross country teams practice together at Eden Prairie High School. Once school begins, CMS practices are held at CMS after school from 2:30-4pm. Activity buses are available to get your child home after practice. We race throughout the season at meets that range from 1 mile to 5k. https://sites.google.com/edenpr.k12.mn.us/cmsxc/home
Winter Running Club
Winter running is another low key option for kids who want to run and get in shape during 3rd quarter (roughly Feb, March). They meet twice per week after school and focus on developing fitness and learning about running.
Track & Field
Track & Field is one of the two competitive running seasons that CMS offers. Track & Field begins on the Tuesday after Spring Break and runs through the last weeks of May. We typically get over 200 participants, about 1/8th of the school joins track! We have 6 meets where we race, jump, and throw. Events are 100m Hurdles, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, long jump, high jump, shot put and discus as well as relay races. goo.gl/FjiYpI
